My childhood passed with happily. When I was seven, my family moved to Nepal.from India but father had been still serving Indian Army. We used to live in Kothari village at Dang District of Mid Western Region of Nepal. Small hut with two rooms was our lovely home. There were many mango trees around the our hut. In front of hut, a Bell tree- tropical fruit tree used as medicine and considered very sacred according to Hindu - was standing to guard us. We used to play marble using round bell fruits. After baking in the fire, we used to eat ripen fruits. Sometimes -specially in summer -mother used to make juice from bell fruits and provided us to drink to protect from heat .
Farm land had spread in the backward of hut. With wide eyes, I used to watch the vast land dug by Tharus- laborious farmers. That was Tharu's land. Tharu are very simple people. They has their own language and culture. We did not possessed the land even the kitchen garden. My mother asked small piece of land for kitchen garden with one of the Tharu.. We started small farming for vegetables.
Rapti river follows from mid of the Deokhuri valley of Dang . Our hut was nearly three hundred meters away south from the bank of the Rapti river. In the summer, we used to go for swimming.
